In 1985, Rich and Greg Komen of Restaurants Unlimited in Seattle, Washington wanted to create “the world’s greatest cinnamon roll” for a new concept they were developing. They hired a local food maven, and after three months, hundreds of kitchen experiments and many trips to Indonesia to find the best, most flavourful cinnamon, the team perfected the Cinnabon recipe and opened the first Cinnabon bakery on Dec. 5, 1985 at Sea Tac Mall. Shortly after becoming a franchised brand, Cinnabon expanded internationally by setting up shop in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in April 1987. Since then, over 25 additional bakeries have opened in Canada. 

In just over two decades, the Cinnabon brand has grown into a worldwide phenomenon with unparalleled crave appeal, serving baked goods such as the famous Classic Roll, Caramel Pecabon, Minibon, Cinnabon Stix – all made with the brand’s signature Makara Cinnamon – as well as specialty blended beverages.
