Our IT books right now

I’m sure that you have heard it before, one of the best things that you can do for your children is read to them. Every word of it is true. There is something so precious about snuggling in bed with your little one and enjoying a good book together. When my son Aubrey was first born, I opted for my old favorite seeing as though it was just the act of speaking out the words to a new born to get him used to speech. Now, places like Chapters are a treat for us because his love for books gets him excited to pick out a new one each time we go. I mean, you can never have too many books am I right?
Aubrey’s Love for books is now one of the things that I am most proud of because I know it was from all those nights of sleepy snuggles.  We love a new book, but some just never get old and are our go-to’s each night so I wanted to share those with you.

Little Blue Truck

My dad has had a little blue Chevy truck since before my parents were married, so maybe that is why the connection to this book is strong for me, but it has to be one of my favorites.  It’s cute rhymes, country charm, and great lesson to be nice to everyone you meet makes it such a perfect read for children of all ages.  Plus, making animal noises keeps anyone engaged, especially a 2 year old!

Oh, The Thinks You Can Think

Is it just me or are Dr. Seuss books a no brainer for all parents? This has to be up there with the best classic children book series. You can never go wrong with picking one of these up to read to your little one. In a world of make believe,  you become fully engulfed in the humor of tongue twisters that lay before you.  And Children love the made up names for everything, as just saying them to most kids makes them burst out in a laugh. Oh, the thinks you could think up if you only try!

Lost and Found

Oliver Jeffers Books are those ones that are made for both parents and kids. The illustration is beautiful, and the story lines are always something a child can relate to. Lost and Found is our favorite from him right now. The moral of the story being that just because something may seem like it doesn’t belong or is lost, sometimes, is right where it needs to be, if you just listen and give it a chance. Friendships can bloom from anywhere!
